How many Trump supporters does it take to change a lightbulb? (3125 pts)
None. Trump says it’s fixed, and they all stand around clapping in the dark.

Top Comments:

[722 pts] “‘Sir, sir,’” they said, these beautiful, strong, manly light-bulb changers. And let me tell you, the bulges in their jeans. You never saw anything like it. Not since Arnold Palmer. ‘Sir,’ they said. ‘It’s never been this bright before. Thank you, sir.’”
[417 pts] They don't change it, they just beat the room for being black.
[80 pts] First the would deny it was dark in the room. Then they would deflect, if it was dark in the room it’s because Obama turned off the lights. Then Biden refused to buy new light bulbs. Then they are saving the country by not using electricity (as they fire up a new data center). Bottom line, they would never take responsibility for actually changing the lightbulb. That some illegal immigrants job.

A rabbi and a priest get into a car accident and it's a bad one. (1143 pts)
A rabbi and a priest get into a car accident and it's a bad one. Both cars are totally demolished, but, amazingly, neither of the clerics is hurt. After they crawl out of their cars, the rabbi sees the priest's collar and says, "So you're a priest. I'm a rabbi. Just look at our cars. There's nothing left, but we are unhurt. This must be a sign from God. God must have meant that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace the rest of our days." The priest replies, "I agree with you completely. This must be a sign from God." The rabbi continues, "And look at this. Here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished but this bottle of Mogen David wine didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune." Then he hands the bottle to the priest. The priest agrees, takes a few big swigs, and hands the bottle back to the rabbi. The rabbi takes the bottle, immediately puts the cap on, and hands it back to the priest. The priest asks, "Aren't...

Getting the day off (700 pts)
Two factory workers are talking on the floor. The woman says, "I can make the boss give me the day off." The man asks, "How will you do that?" She climbs up and hangs upside down from the ceiling. The boss walks in and asks, "What on earth are you doing?" She replies, "I am a light bulb." "You are working too hard and you have gone crazy. Go home and take the day off.", the boss says. The man is astonished, but after a few seconds starts walking away toward the door. "Where are you going?!", the boss shouts at him. The man replies, "I am going home too. I cannot work in the dark."

So the cop says to a redneck, "All right, buddy, you're under arrest for counterfeiting. (414 pts)
The redneck looks over both shoulders, then slides a $37 bill toward the cop and says, "How about now?"

Top Comments:

[196 pts] A counterfeiter’s equipment goes haywire one day and prints out a stack of eighteen dollar bills before he realizes and uses up all of the special paper stock that makes the funny money feel like the real thing and not ordinary copy paper. Throwing out the fake cash will just be a complete loss. He gets the idea of heading for the hill country, figuring the simple folk there won’t know any better. He decides to test it at the first general store he comes across. He rushes in and asks the storekeeper, “Can you make change for this eighteen dollar bill?” The storekeeper looks at the bill in amazement. “Eighteen dollar bill? I ain’t heerd of no eighteen dollar bill afore.” The bad guy says, “They just came out with it. Look, I’m in a hurry. Can you change the bill or not?” “Calm down there, young feller, I didn’t say I couldn’t change it. Jes’ have to be careful, what with city folk allus comin’ up into the hills, thinking they can take advantage of us poor mountaineers. Now, how did you want the change? Three sixes or two nines?”
[19 pts] Somehow I'm reminded of when James May said they need to make a $9.99 bill.

Then if u have 1 call on day 1 and 2 calls every day onward, you will always have a higher than average number of calls. Because the total average of calls per day will always be less than 2 because of that first day, and on that first day 1 call in a day is more than the average of 0 or something since u just started.

[22 pts] As the other commenter said, that's just indicative of shit placement exams and standards for what is supposed to be a top school
[12 pts] All the U.C. schools went test-blind in 2021, so they don't consider placement exams like the SAT anymore. Many of the faculty believe they should be brought back. There are at least some studies that have shown that racial and economic equity has actually gone \*down\* since the test requirements were dropped. Diversity was ostensibly one of the reasons for dropping them in the first place, since the tests were thought to be biased.

Help with dating math guy (62 pts)
Hii! I'm very sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question but i didn't really dare ask in the more serious math related subreddits. Im dating a guy that I know likes math, and I think know it on a higher level but not sure. He does not have a degree at least. (I'm 22 and he's 27 if it matters lol) His birthday is next week and I'm going to make a birthday card with a frog on (inside joke), his favorite color as backround and I was thinking of having the frog read a book with some math equation inside. What would be a good one? Orrrr is there some kinda question I can ask him to get him to tell me his favorite one? (Is that even a thing? A favorite equation?) Otherwise would appreciate some tips on what to ask to get him to talk about it more for general conversation! Thank you for anything I get đŸ«¶

[342 pts] Typical tire pressure is usually around 30-40 psi. These are so overfilled that if he hits a pothole, the tires would explode dangerously, and the joke is that it would launch him into the sky and hit an airplane.
[70 pts] The driver thinks the numbers are percentages. They're not. They measure pressure per square inch. They should be around 32 for a car tire. That means these tires have about 3x the intended pressure in them. Hitting a pothole could make one of these tires blow in a small explosion. Or, hyperbolically, it would launch it into the air high enough to get into an accident with a plane.

[2093 pts] The joke is that political philosophy books are just for beginners. A real Master's degree in geopolitics is spending 20 minutes in a taxi listening to the driver's theories
[254 pts] Well, my master degree's thesis about cinema and Korea is turning out useful. (EDIT: slight correction, I know this because I organized an Asian film festival in my city) The reference is to a very famous film from 2017: "A Taxi Driver". It's an historical south Korean film set during the Gwangju Uprising, a revolt that took place at the beginning of one of the various extreme right dictatorships that South Korea had, in 1980. Gwangju is a region that for some reason has a strong leftist political support. Even during the war many from that area voluntarily joined the North Korean Army when the place was occupied in the first period of the conflict, and many remained in the north after the army retreated. When there was the coup an uprising started in Gwangju, and a German journalist in Seoul had some insight about what was going to happen. Despite everybody telling him to stay away he was able to reach the place thanks to a taxi driver. As soon as they arrived in Gwangju they found themselves involved in the uprising and in the subsequent military action, that involved the paratroopers shooting on the protesters and killing around 2500 people. They were hunting foreign journalists and the taxi driver went all out in saving the guy's ass by driving him around and out of the place. The few informations that we had about what happened were thanks to that journalist and his trip with the taxi driver, with which he totally lost contact and to this today has not been found. In 2016 there were political demonstrations where people were asking about truth concerning those facts, and still the government was shy about admitting the details about the military involvement. This film was made in that period and had to deal with a lot of pressure: the main actor has basically been cut out of any relevant South Korean film after that. So the gag is: the beginner level of political studies is studying classical political essays. The advanced level is taking a taxi in south Korea to see by yourself wtf is going on, and risking life for that. This is the film: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Taxi_Driver

My latest new client set the strictest rules I’ve ever heard. I obeyed every one of them. She still claimed I was the problem and lost her mind. (18920 pts)
Yesterday I had a new client who was referred to me, book a 90-minute mobile massage. She was very specific over text before I even showed up. She told me exactly what she wanted: ‱ Deep tissue only ‱ Focus on her upper back, shoulders, and neck ‱ “Do not check in with me at all. I hate when therapists keep asking if the pressure is okay. Just do the work.” ‱ “I don’t want any small talk either. Just quiet.” ‱ “When the time is up, that’s it. No free extras.” I confirmed everything back to her so there was zero confusion. She replied “Perfect, see you then.” I get there, set up, and go over the same list one more time in person just to be safe. She nods and says “Yep, that’s exactly what I want. Don’t ask me anything once we start.” So I did exactly that. I put my headphones in to get some much needed audiobook time (one ear only so I could still hear if she actually needed something), started the timer on my phone where she could see it, and worked in complete silence....

Least lines of code contest? okay! (672 pts)
I was taking a computer science class on computer hardware organization, taught by a professor who used to work on the AMD chip architecture. He was a tenured professor, set in his old ways, and felt a bit entitled because of his past career prestige. Even in 2009, he demanded that \*all\* coding assignments are turned in on 3.5 inch floppy drives. You really had to scrounge to find an old working floppy drive, even in 2009. He was very strict and by the book on his policies. Our professor had been teasing us with an upcoming assignment, saying that there had been a multi-year contest to see who could write the assignment program in the least lines of code possible. Historically, the brightest and smartest student he ever taught accomplished the assignment in 13 lines of code. Typically, students needed about 100 lines of assembly code, and the best can usually do it in about 30 lines of code. I \*had\* to win, for bragging rights and all. We got to writing programs in 6800 assembly ...

Malicious compliance in the chemistry lab. (403 pts)
I worked in a chemistry testing lab for a while. For those of you that don't know, it is pretty common to have a "list of posted documents." When a document (procedure, work instruction, etc.) gets posted in the lab it gets added to the list of posted documents. That way if a new version gets updated it gets updated where it is posted in the lab. Well we had this really old hot water bath. It was so ancient that the temperature dial didn't even have the degrees each setting corresponded to. It just had the numbers 1-10. So every time somebody used it at a new setting they would write on a post-it note that was on the front of the water bath what temp it got to. I knew that our internal auditor was coming for an audit and I also new that this post-it note was *technically* a posted document. So I added it to the posted documents list! I also gave it a really long title because I thought that was funny. Something like "Thermo brand hot water bath temperature dial conversion to degrees ...

I was just talking to a former coworker and we had a good laugh about this. I worked for a company headquartered in a different state. My office had two people. Our phone system was someone answered the phone and if it was for the other person we put them on hold and yelled "phone" across the office. Or if I could see they were on the phone I would just take a message. This worked great, except that the HQ decided they didn't like that and bought the same fancy system they used. A little back story: The owner of our company was from a European company and they had a family bakery somewhere on eastern Europe. Every year for Christmas the company put in a huge order of these traditional cookies at the last minute. Every year there were permits missed and import delays (with agricultural products, who would have guessed) and we got the cookies just in time. Then one of us would need to drive 4 hours to get our lot of the cookies. We weren't allowed to keep any for ourselves, but I had a...

[1 pts] Love that the VP had the authority to completely overlook the hypocrisy 😆
[1 pts] I used to work for a US-based bank which had several offices in other countries. In some of the countries hold music was required, whether by company policy or local regulation, I am not sure. But the reason for this was that some phone connections weren’t that great and crosstalk might be heard. You didn’t want to be on hold listening to someone else’s private business. The downside of this was when someone from a hold-music requiring country joined a conference call and later put their line on hold the entire conference would be treated to the hold music over and over. And some of them weren’t musical but were actually ads for the bank.

Grams are not millilitres (86 pts)
A 3/5 star review on a recipe whose first ingredient clearly states: 1 tablespoon (15 mL). No mention of grams. And a bonus date sugar substitution! But luckily their quick thinking saved the recipe!

[18 pts] >Grams are not millilitres I was hoping that I would open the recipe and they would be talking about water measurements, lmao (because in the case of water, they are the same).
[53 pts] Using mL for a solid ingredient is wild, ngl.
Subbing Fenugreek leaves for curry powder is wild. (74 pts)
Should have used like mint or some other leafy green at a minimum. Lalla Mussa Dal [https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1019207-lalla-mussa-dal](https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1019207-lalla-mussa-dal)

[68 pts] That is a distinctly different flavor profile change but from reading the whole recipe I think their substitution would still work. Dried fenugreek leaves have a really unique aroma and flavor, so even mint or other herbs/leafy greens wouldn't come close.
[36 pts] The recipe calls for kasoori methi, which is dried and crushed fenugreek leaves used as a spice. You don't want something green and leafy there, so while curry powder isn't a great substitution it's not as wild as you might think.
